This particular symbol appears throughout ancient Northern Europe. It features prominently on a picture stone from Hablingbo, Gotland, Sweden, that was created between 400 and 600 AD.
It is also similar to a traditional heraldic emblem called a Bowen knot.
In Finland, the symbol was painted or carved on houses and barns, and domestic utensils such as tableware, to protect them and their owners from evil spirits and bad luck. The oldest surviving example is a pair of 1000-year-old (Finnish pre-Christian period) wooden skis decorated with the symbol.'
These candle sconces are made from Poplar wood and hand decorated with wood burning design.
The sconce base can support a small tea light (battery powered or flame).
Mounting hook will be attached to back of wood base so it is ready to hang.
Each one is unique in grain and rustic texturing detail.
Displayed here is the Walnut finish.

I wanted to get a hannunvaakuna as a candle holder and not a wall sconce and they said it was absolutely doable. I received it today and it's everything I wanted. It's absolutely beautiful. It fits well for my ancestors on my altar and I love it. Thank you so much, would buy from again anytime.
