Ankh Wall Sconce

The Ankh is an Egyptian hieroglyphic symbol for "life" or "breath of life" (`nh = ankh) and, as the Egyptians believed that one's earthly journey was only part of an eternal life, the ankh symbolizes both mortal existence and the afterlife. It is one of the most ancient symbols of ancient Egypt, often seen with the djed and was symbols, carried by a multitude of the Egyptian gods in tomb paintings and inscriptions and worn by Egyptians as an amulet. Maker's note: This is such a fascinating symbol that has held a place in my life for quite some time. It is personally a pleasure and honor to bring this into the shop for others to appreciate and enjoy.

These candle sconces are made from Poplar wood and hand decorated with wood burning design. A mounting hook comes attached to back of wood base so it is ready to hang.

Each one is unique in wood grain and rustic texturing detail.
